From pressure sensitive labels to metal nameplates, we can print it in 4CP
What is 4cp
4CP stands for four color process and is a form of printing where a color image is separated into 4 different color values (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black – CMYK). The way that this process is performed has evolved over the years and is now usually done digitally utilizing different software and printers.
QNP not only has a variety of digital printers that allow us to provide you with many options for your 4CP, multicolor digital image printing needs, but also has the ability to screen print anywhere from 1 – 4 colors on any substrate.
Regarless of your color needs, QNP has the ability to get the job done.
QNP has the ability to print in color on many different materials. These materials include pressure sensitive labels, foil, aluminum, brass and stainless steel, to name a few.

4CP Printers
Below are the various different printers and processes that we utlize to print multiple colors. But you don’t have to worry about knowing which one would be best for your application – that is what our experts are for.
HP Scitex FB700
This 4CP printer has a large flatbed and it can both fit and print on a 4′ x 8′ piece of plywood. It can even print on material that is up to 2″ thick. Needless to say, this printer is ideal for large or rigid material like wood or metal. Also, its ink is UV resistant, so it is great for outdoor durability as well.
HP Indigo 5600
While the Scitex is ideal for large, rigid material, the Indigo is perfect for detail. This printer is used for jobs that have variable data and/or require clear print that is very small. The size is limited to less than .020″ thick and 12″ x 18″ flats and the material itself varies, including:
- Vinyl
- Polyester
- Polycarbonate
- Aluminum Foil
- Paper
Mimaki
The Mimaki is one of our go-to printers for anything that is vinyl and/or adhesive backed. It is also great for large format printing because the rolls used are 54″ wide. This printer is used for vinyl labels and banners and the ink has excellent outdoor durability.
Screen Printing
- Aluminum
- Brass
- Steel
- Vinyl
- Polycarbonate
Markem
In some cases old technology is better than modern technology, and that is the case with this machine. It is not digital at all, but it is able to produce 2 color labels, laminate them, die cut them and remove the excess material, all at once. There is no other machine that we have come across to do this as effectively, which is why it is still part of our printing toolkit.
GErber Edge
This printer is a little different than the others in that it uses heat to print in 4CP, which is why it is also called a thermal transfer printer. It is great for vinyl adhesive backed labels that need simple, solid colors. The print area is limited to 13.5″ because that is the width of a roll, but this little printer is extremely efficient and has a built in die cutter so that labels are printed and can then be cut by the same machine.

One morning, when Gregor Samsa woke from troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a horrible vermin. He lay on his armour-like back, and if he lifted his head a little he could see his brown belly, slightly domed and divided by arches into stiff sections.

4CP FAQs
What types of products does QNP make in 4CP?
QNP makes a wide variety of products in not just 4CP, but spot colors as well. Products like nameplates, labels (warning, overlays, component identification), and tags (valve, asset, custom).
What is the production time of 4CP products?
Since there are a vast array of production options, it is difficult to give a specific time frame. On average, we produce an order within 10-14 working days. But it you have a deadline, we work with you to get you what you need in time.
Is there a size limit to the 4CP products you can produce?
That truly depends on the material you need. We can print on a rigid surface that is as big as 4′ x 8′ and we can print on vinyl up to 54″ wide. If you need something with very fine detail, the max size is 12″ x 18″. The best way to find out how we can help you with your color needs is to talk to one of our experts – they will help you determine what will work best in your scenario.
Can you match a PMS color?
Yes. If you provide us with a PMS color, we can create an approximate match with our 4CP printers or with our screen printed colors. Usually, we produce colors better than the PMS 4 color book.
What kind of labels do you make in 4CP?
All sorts. Warning labels, overlays, asset tags, and component identification labels, to name a few.
What kind of tags do you make in 4CP?
